All powerful (Job 38-40)

from Wisdom by Richard Jensen

/

lyrics

Where were you when the earth was made?
Where were you when foundations were laid?
Who measured and set its cornerstone?
While the angels sang around the throne?

Who shut up the sea behind its doors?
Wrapping the clouds around its shores?
When its limits were set and put in place
Have you seen death's darkened gates?

Eternal
Supernal
All powerful
And wonderful

Can you raise your voice to the clouds above?
And cover yourself with water's flood?
Send lightning bolts upon their way?
Is there anything left to say?

Is your voice like God, and thunders?
Then adorn yourself with splendour
Clothe yourself with majesty
And unleash your fury
